During our three (3) Christmas services [10th, 17th, 24th December] we will focus on Luke 2:10, which summarises the gospel’s message that Jesus is Saviour for the world. On those Sundays we will note that the birth of Jesus is good news (“gospel”), which brings great joy for all people.
Having focused on God Announcing His Saviour last week [Luke 1: 5-38], this Sunday we will be looking at the human response. Last week we saw how Mary, Jesus’ mother, was a model believer [Lk. 1:45, compared to Zechariah’s unbelief in v. 20]. This Sunday we will note how both Mary and Zechariah are model believers as they are seen Declaring Jesus as God’s Saviour for the world.
As you read through Luke 1: 39-80 in preparation for worship, take note of any references in Mary’s song [“The Magnificat”, v.46-55] and Zechariah’s prophecy [“The Benedictus”, v.68-79] to Jesus as God’s Saviour.
